The Daily Loss Limit at Funds.Pro is based on your starting equity for the day, not just the final profit or loss from closed trades.
This is one of the most misunderstood concepts, so here’s a clear breakdown:
What is “Starting Equity”?
It’s your account equity at the beginning of the trading day, calculated at 00:00 GMT+3. This includes your balance + floating profit or loss from any open trades.
How is the Daily Loss Limit applied?
Let’s say your starting equity is $5,123.19, and you’re on a 5% daily drawdown limit.
That means you are only allowed to lose:
➡️ 5% of $5,123.19 = $256.16
So, if your equity falls below $4,867.03 at any point in the day — whether from a floating loss or a closed position — your account will be automatically breached.
Why was my account breached even though my trade wasn’t closed in heavy loss?
Because the system tracks live equity movement. Even if your trade later goes back into profit or closes with a small loss, what matters is that at any point your equity dropped below the daily limit threshold.
Example:
Start of day equity: $5,123.19
Floating PnL dropped to: - $135
So your equity became: $4,988.19
That’s a drawdown of $258.19, which exceeds the allowed loss of $256.16
? Violation triggered, even if your final result was better later
How can I prevent this?
Keep an eye on floating losses — not just closed trades
Use appropriate stop-losses to control intraday equity dips
Make sure your charts are set to GMT+3 to match system tracking
Avoid large position sizes that cause wild intraday equity swings
Use standard candlestick charts (not Heiken Ashi) for accurate price tracking
? You can always hover over the ❓ icon in your dashboard stats box to see the exact loss limit threshold calculated for your account each day.
You should know how the daily loss limit works on a prop account. It is calculated based on the live equity movement during the trading day, not just the closed trade results or final P&L.
This means that if your equity — including floating (unrealized) losses — falls below the allowed daily loss limit at any point during the day, the challenge will be marked as failed, even if your trades later recover and close in smaller loss or even in profit.
